Gary Jones
A graduate of the Art Center School of Design in California, Gary has built a distinguished career in professional design, creating award-winning promotions for leading corporations and nonprofit organizations. His commissioned works are held by prominent collectors, further establishing his reputation for excellence and creative vision.
Gary’s artistic journey began in childhood, nurtured by a deep love of the outdoors—exploring nature, observing wildlife, and especially fishing. This early bond with the natural world continues to shape and inspire his art.
Born in Texas of Chickasaw descent, Gary holds a profound respect for his heritage, reflected in his compelling portraits of Native American elders. His ability to unite cultural reverence with artistic mastery has produced a body of work both meaningful and enduring.
As an illustrator, he has contributed to several books, most recently Nature Is Calling—a children’s exploration of animals in their natural habitats that highlights his distinctive drawing style.
Now based in Montana’s Big Sky Country, Gary draws constant inspiration from the landscapes around him. An avid fisherman, he also expresses his artistry through fly tying, rod making, and restoration. Surrounded by family, friends, and frequent fishing companions, he lives the deep connection to nature that animates every piece of his work.
